Boots Curly Hair Mousse Review

Well, I've been trying sooo many different styling products for my wavy 2a/2b hair and finally I am that step closer to having the wavy hair I've been dying to have!

Yesterday (after reading enough reviews to be convinced) I purchased Boots Curly Hair Mousse R.R.P £1.05 (yes £1.05!!!)

I styled my hair the same as usual: after washing, working product into hair without raking it in, diffusing most of it then allowing it to fully dry naturally... And I am VERY pleased with the results!

• No crunchiness!
• No stickiness!
• Soft, moisturised, shiny bouncy waves!

And all this for £1.05!

Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express Reviews and Before and After Photos!

I usually use the One-by-One mascara by Maybelline but I found this new mascara: Maybelline The Rocket Volum Express and thought I'd give it a go! It retails at £7.99 in Boots but I can imagine it is available on many other Maybelline stalls.

Here's what it looks like...

All I did for application was curl my eyelashes with Cosmopolitans eyelash curler and then applied one thick coat to the lashes (I've tried two thin coats in the past with mascara but actually find it clumpier than one thick coat)

I'm very happy with the results of this mascara, as you can see I have pale eyelashes as I have generally pale colouring and the mascara has really separated my lashes and gave them length and noticeable volume.

Out of ten?

A definite 10 so far!!

Good Hair Day!

Good (hair) day everyone! :)

I received my new deep conditioning treatment this morning called 'Jessicurl Deep Conditioning Treatment' and with this treatment it is advised to shampoo and then apply treatment to wet hair and comb through and leave on for 30-60 minutes. I left it on for 30 minutes, rinsed then followed with Jessicurl styling treatment and I am very happy so far! The styling treatment is easy to use and doesn't make my hair crunchy, frizzy or dry. The conditioning treatment cost me £15 from http://www.britishcurlies.co.uk/store/ and it arrived within a couple of days. So far, so good!

Here is a photo of my parcel from The Body Shop that I received yesterday, if you check out the post previous to this, I have a YouTube video talking about these product (for some reason I missed out the hand cleanser and night cream on the video blog doh!)

I think all this in the same came to around £50, which seems a lot but the amount I saved was incredible and a lot of these products will last me a good few months.

I also think this box that it came in will do great to store my monthly empties so I can blog on January 31st :)

My Workout Make-up (yes workout!)

I'm a frequent gym goer and generally go 5-6 days a week and although I love a great, intense workout, I still want to look better than worse for wear if that's even possible whilst working out! A lot of people are against wearing make-up to the gym but as long as you take it off after and give your pores a good cleanse I don't see the problem, if a little make-up whilst working out makes you feel more confident why the hell not!

Anyway this is the sort of coverage I tend to go for at the gym, I don't put a lot on I generally just even my complexion out. For the gym, the foundation I use is Maybelline's matte mousse is shade Light Porcelain, matte is a good idea for the gym due to the sweating and I do sweat a lot on my face! I used a little moisturiser underneath but generally a good toner before applying foundation should be enough to remove any dirt and oils so you keep it looking at matte as you can whilst at the gym...

The Bodyshop Honey & Oat 3 in 1 Scrub Mask

First off, I am a HUUUUUGE fan of The Bodyshop, I love their values and I love how good quality their products are. Today I thought I'd review the Honey & Oat 3 in 1 Scrub Mask which retails for £10, I don't usually use face masks but the idea of honey and oat in a mask made me buy it! So here's what it looks like...

This face mask is for Normal/Dry Skin which is perfect for me as I have naturally dry skin. When opening the tub the smell is absolutely beautiful! Good enough to eat! It literally has oats in the mixture which I love. It smooths on the skin beautifully and when on it's refreshing and has a slight cooling sensation. It's recommended to leave on for 5-10 minutes. I washed it off with The Bodyshop's face brush just for an extra exfoliation when removing it.

My skin felt so lovely and soft and smooth. Luckily, due to my dry skin, I don't suffer with spots but usually I feel a dry tightness to my skin after washing but it felt lovely!

I would definitely use this from now on on a weekly basis to boost my skincare routine and I would definitely recommend it!

A taste of what I study...

Hello :)

I am studying for a degree in Special Effects Make-up and have done since October 2012, it's still early days but here is a picture of a casualty make-up effect I did for our mock assessment. This took me 90 minutes to create using a cotton pad to cover the eye, latex and tissue for skin texture, a grease colour palette to colour and congealed blood for finish.

DIY Shellac Nails Continued...

Evening all :)

Well, after a whole day of wearing my DIY Shellac nail polish which consisted of hair washing, working, shopping and weight training/cardio at the gym, showering... I can happily say they are still pristine! This is a breakthrough for me as my regular painted nails would have chipped severely by now. So, I decided to paint my toenails too!

Very happy Shellac user so far! :)

My first DIY Shellac Experience

Hello all :)

This Christmas, I decided to go ahead and treat myself to something I've been interested in buying for a while now. I work in retail and a lot of the ladies who work there are big users of Shellac and rate it highly. I'd say I'm quite lazy when it comes to painting my nails, not that I don't appreciate having lovely nails because I think there is nothing better than having a beautifully manicured set of nails, but because I really find it disappointing to spend time painting them for them to chip several hours later!

So, I decided to buy myself a home Shellac kit from eBay. The kit consists of: a UV nail dryer and a Shellac base, colour and top coat. I also purchased a red glitter powder to add to the colour (but in the end chickened out using it since being a Shellac virgin!) and also I used a cuticle stick - this is to push cuticles back pre-Shellac application to ensure a clean nail when applying.

For the UV nail dryer and the Shellac polishes the price came to just under £30 including postage which I think is pretty decent considering a Shellac nail salon treatment will cost you in region of £15-£20.

So, here's what I did for my application:

I initially made sure my nails were polish, dirt and oil free by cleaning with a nail polish remover and with the cuticle pusher pushed back any cuticles for a clean nail. I then repeated a clean with the remover. I then applied one coat of the base coat to one hand ensuring the coat was thin and even. This is then where the UV nail dryer comes into play...

You then 'cure' the nails in the dryer for 10 seconds - the thumb has to be cured separately as it's just not practical to put your whole hand in! Once cured I repeated same procedure on the other hand.

Then went on the first layer of colour - two coats of colour is needed (just the way you would normally paint nails) and this time the nails are cured for 2 minutes.

Second coat of colour applied and cured.

AND FINALLY the top coat to protect colour and give a beautiful shine and this layer is cured for 2 minutes also then...

Da-da!

For a first time application I am pretty happy with the results, it's simple to do and takes around 30 minutes from start to finish. And best bit is there is NO DRYING TIME hoorah! Hopefully this should last up to two weeks but I shall keep you posted.
